“Russians including Armenians being Russian citizens can’t participate in Nagorno Garabagh frontline”, said editor-in-chief of Russia’s National Defense magazine, military expert Igor Korotchenko, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.

He noted that the citizens of the Russian Federation may participate in combat activities only as members of the country’s defense and law enforcement agencies: “In the present situation, the war is waged on the Azerbaijani territory and the Russian citizens shouldn’t take part in this war. I remind you that our Criminal Code penalizes participation in illegal armed units and combat activities in the capacity of mercenary. Therefore, Russia’s law enforcement agencies have every ground to interfere in the situation. The strict reaction should be expected from them. Indeed, the imprisonment for the period from 3 to 7 years awaits persons participating as mercenary in armed conflicts, while the imprisonment for the period from 4 to 8 years awaits persons who recruit them according to clause 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation”.
